Broccoli, a member of the cabbage family, is closely related to cauliflower. It is a versatile vegetable acquirable throughout the year. Broccoli grows best when temperatures remain between 40 degrees and 70 degrees F during the growing period. In most areas broccoli grows best if cultivated in late summer so that it can mature during cool periods. Broccoli is abundant in dietary fiber and has various vitamins such as A, C and K. It contains nutrients that might prevent cancer and can help in the iron absorption.
