About T4 PDG (T4 Endonuclease V)
T4 PDG (T4 Endonuclease V) is a DNA glycosylase possessing dual enzymatic activities: DNA N-glycosylase and AP lyase. The enzyme recognizes and binds to cis-syn cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs) caused by UV irradiation. It then cleaves the glycosidic bond at the 5' end of the pyrimidine dimer, releasing the dimer and creating an AP site. Subsequently, utilizing its endonuclease activity, it cleaves the phosphodiester bond at the AP site, resulting in a single-nucleotide gap in the DNA strand.
T4 PDG is a T4N5 photorepair enzyme engineered for membrane-penetrating capability. It specifically recognizes and cleaves UV-induced DNA damage products—cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs)—thereby reversing photoaging at the genetic level. This process mitigates fibroblast senescence and collagen degradation caused by the accumulation of DNA damage, while also alleviating UV-induced erythema and inflammation. It exhibits high transdermal efficiency, penetrating deep into the epidermis to provide sustained action.
The membrane-penetrating T4N5 ingredient in T4 PDG significantly enhances transdermal absorption efficiency.
