About Racecadotril
Racecadotril is an antidiarrheal drug with high lipophilicity and is an enkephalinase inhibitor with an IC50 of 4.5 μM. Racecadotril works by inhibiting enkephalinase activity, thus preventing excessive secretion of water and electrolytes into the intestines.
By inhibiting intestinal adenylate cyclase, it reduces the secretion of water mediated by adenylate cyclase, thereby reducing the loss of water and electrolytes in the intestines and shortening the duration of diarrhea. It can alleviate diarrhea symptoms and help maintain water and electrolyte balance.
