About Nesiritide
Nesiritide is a recombinant human B-type natriuretic peptide developed by Scios Company of the United States and first listed in the United States in August 2001. Its main indication is dyspnea in acute decompensated congestive heart failure, and it is the first recombinant human B-type natriuretic peptide drug approved in the United States for the treatment of human diseases. Nesiritide, like the natural cardiac hormone BNP secreted by the ventricle, exerts its physiological effects by binding to a family of natriuretic peptide receptors—specific NPR-A, NPR-B and NPR-C—located on endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells. Its physiological properties are regulated by NPR-A and NPR-B.
