Diprotin A is a dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV) inhibitor. Inhibits hydrolysis of incretins, regulating blood glucose levels. Also increases number of viable phenotypic long term repopulating hematopoietic stem cells when harvesting mouse bone marrow in aerobic conditions.
Diprotin A exerts a blood glucose-lowering effect by competitively binding to the active site of DPP-IV, thereby preventing the enzyme from hydrolyzing N-terminal dipeptide residues of incretins (such as GLP-1 and GIP); this prolongs the duration of incretin action in the body, promotes insulin secretion, and inhibits glucagon release. Additionally, it modulates lymphocyte chemotaxis and the secretion of inflammatory cytokines, playing a role in immune regulation.
