Function of Apigenin
2.Lowering blood fat
5.Reduce the risk of cancer
Apigenin is a polyphenol, and is one of the flavonoids found in many of the foods consumed by humans. It is widely distributed in warm tropical vegetables and fruits, especially in celery. It is a flavone with three OH groups on it. This compound is being widely studied for its anti-cancer properties. In particular, it has some anti-tumor properties that some other flavonoids lack.
Apigenin has potential to reduce the risk of cancer since it has anti-tumor activity. It can induce the apoptosis of human gastric cancer cells via activating mitochondrial signal transdution pathway and promotes proliferative inhibition and apoptotic induction of human acute myeloid leukaemia HL-60 cells by cisplatin(DDP).
Apigenin, as a non-toxic plant flavonoid, has been shown to free radical scavenging properties and antioxidant effects.
