How MGF works
IGF-I splices with MGF, and MGF initiates hypertrophy and repair of local muscle damage. MGF is expressed by mechanically overloaded muscles and is involved in tissue repair and adaptation. It is expressed in a pulsatile form after muscle injury and is involved in the activation of muscle satellite stem cells. These donate their nuclei to the muscle fibers needed for repair and hypertrophy processes. MGF is essential for the repair and growth of new cells, similar to IGF-1.
